It is noteworthy that the silver and gold coins of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games represented the first jubilee series issued in the United States after a half-century hiatus. The four series of coins issued for the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games stand out for their combination of
sporting themes and motifs drawn from traditional Korean culture. In the 1992 Barcelona series, particular emphasis is placed on modern design and the representation of Spanish historical architecture. The coins of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games were dedicated to the centenary of the Olympic movement. The article serves as a unique reference guide for numismatists and for those interested in the
history of the Olympic movement.
